Bob Spencer

Bob Spencer is a former senior police officer with strong leadership and investigative skills. He has extensive expertise in the investigation of serious and organised crime and particularly the collection, analysis and use of intelligence. Bob was selected and sponsored for the prestigious Cambridge University, Criminology and Police Leadership Masters in 2010, with a thesis examining the application of professional judgement. He has experience of Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and led numerous compliance inspections, in addition to being a senior 'Peer mentor.’ Bob led the first regional specialist unit delivering the Government’s Prevent agenda and was responsible for embedding the strategy within the West Midlands and its community safety partnerships. Bob was the operational policing lead for two policing areas including one in Birmingham City, with over 400 staff and budgets in excess of £14 million.

­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Bob has spoken at both national and international events including recent seminars in Barcelona and Athens. He is a consultant and specialist trainer to S.T.A.R. Consultancy and Training Ltd, delivering training around all forms of safeguarding, particularly that associated with radicalisation and counter terrorism. He is a Home Office approved facilitator and is also a regular visiting speaker at the University of Wolverhampton, lecturing on both their Policing and Terrorism courses. He was recently a Prevent Coordinator, under the Government’s ‘Contest’ (Counter Terrorism) strategy with Walsall Council.
